WHO sends off medical aid to aid Pakistanis affected by flood
(MENAFN) The World Health Organization (WHO) announced on Monday that it has sent medical supplies capable of treating 15,000 people affected by severe flooding in Pakistan.
Describing the situation as “devastating,” WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus offered his condolences via the social media platform X. He added, “WHO is supporting the government to meet health needs, and has sent medical supplies to treat 15,000 people.”
Across several districts in northwestern Pakistan, rescuers, including army personnel and local volunteers, continued to sift through debris left by the floods. Entire villages, bridges, and infrastructure were destroyed, and over 350 people lost their lives in just the past four days.
With the recent fatalities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the total death toll from the monsoon-related floods since June 26 has risen to 670, as torrential rains have battered the country for weeks.
